Can I install Oikos on my server?
No. Oikos is a service provided by Simon Solutions. More than just a website, or a piece of software, Oikos is constantly updated and improved. We keep all Oikos installations on our servers where we can be sure every Oikos has the best security and latest updates.
Can I use my own domain for Oikos?
Yes. To use a custom domain with your Oikos, you will need to:
- Register the domain you would like to use if you don't already have one. We recommend GoDaddy.
- You will need to point your domain's nameservers to ns.rackspace.com and ns1.rackspace.com

- Send us an email letting us know what domain you are using and we'll set up your domain on our server.
Do you provide phone support?
No. We offer quality email support. Let us know your problem, and you will receive a response from an Oikos developer within one business day.
What is your refund policy?
Because Oikos is a service, we offer no refunds. We do our best to meet the needs of our customers. If you are unhappy with Oikos, feel free to cancel your account. But please give us plenty of feedback, we strive to make you happy.
What does disk space and bandwidth mean to me?
Each Oikos package comes with a pre-defined amount of disk space. The more files you upload to Oikos, the more disk space you will use. We have given each Oikos enough disk space to accommodate average usage. If you think you may exceed this disk space (by uploading an above-average amount of files) you can purchase more space.
Each time a user views a file in Oikos, their internet connection has to download it. If the file is 30 KB in size, then it uses 30 KB of bandwidth. We have given each Oikos enough bandwidth to accommodate average usage. Most files (pictures and text) require very little bandwidth, however video and audio files use significantly more. If you think you may exceed your allotted bandwidth you can purchase more.
Each Oikos displays disk space and bandwidth usage in real-time and will alert you if you are approaching your limit. You can check your disk space or bandwidth usage in the administration dialog. You can purchase more disk space or bandwidth by emailing us.
What are user overages?
This allows you to add a few more users without having to upgrade to a larger package. For example, if you had the 25 user package and wanted to add 3 more people, you would just pay 36¢ a month for each of those 3 users rather than upgrading to the 100 user package.
